Deleting your data

How to have your account and contributions removed.

How to delete your account

Write to the address at the bottom of this page from the email address on your account, saying you want the account deleted. It will be done within 30 days and you will get confirmation.

If you signed in with Google or Facebook and can no longer reach that account, write to the address at the bottom of this page and it will be done within 30 days.

What is removed

Your account and sign-in credentials, any link to Google or Facebook, your whole profile — name, biography, avatar, location, links, villages — your private messages, and your notifications.

Your contributions

You choose at the moment you delete: your photographs can be deleted with the account, or left in the archive with your name removed.

We ask rather than assume, because two things are both true — the photographs are yours, and a village archive that loses half its photographs when one contributor leaves is not much of an archive. Neither answer is wrong.

Comments you left on other people's photographs are kept with your name removed, so a conversation identifying somebody's grandmother does not collapse into fragments.

If you administer a town

A town can never be left with no administrator. If you are the only one, deletion is refused until you either grant the role to another member or delete the town — the latter only being possible while it holds no photographs.
